FAQ
I. Startup Issues
1. No power, screen off
Loose power supply, blown fuse, or faulty outlet. Check wiring and power supply; replace fuse and restart.
2. Self-test error on startup
Probe blocked or position shifted. Clear foreign objects; manually reset and re-run self-test.
II. Inaccurate or Fluctuating Data
3. High or low readings
Specimen placed crooked or not centered; dust or stains on testing edge; inconsistent clamping force. Cut standard specimen; clean edges; apply uniform clamping position.
4. Large variation in repeated tests
Machine not leveled or loose sensor. Level the instrument; tighten sensor mounting screws.
III. Mechanical Operation
5. Probe lift/lower jerky or noisy
Dust buildup on guide rails. Clean dust; apply a small amount of special lubricant.
6. Specimen slipping or clamping unstable
Worn clamp pads or insufficient clamping force. Adjust clamping force; replace worn pads.
IV. Parameter and Function Issues
7. Touchscreen unresponsive
Dirty or damp screen. Wipe with dry cloth; restart device.
8. Unable to zero or zero drift
Long period without calibration. Enter system to recalibrate zero; wait 3 minutes before testing.
9. Abnormal test speed
Speed gear misadjusted. Restore factory default test speed.
V. Printing and Communication
10. Not printing or blank printout
Thermal paper empty or loaded backwards. Reload paper correctly; check print switch.
11. Data transmission failure
Loose data cable or unmatched serial port settings. Replug cable; verify communication parameters.

Softness Tester

Softness is an important sensory quality indicator for tissue paper and flexible materials. Its physical essence is the combined resistance generated by the material during bending and compression. The standard test method specified in GB/T 8942-2002 involves placing a specimen of specified dimensions onto the test platform. A probe then presses into the specimen at a constant speed and passes through a slit, measuring the maximum force generated during the process, which is recorded as the softness value, expressed in millinewtons (mN). The lower the value, the softer the material. This instrument is widely used in industries such as papermaking, daily chemicals, and textiles. It can evaluate softness in both the machine direction and cross direction separately, providing important guidance for product formulation optimization and quality control.
