Product Introduction
The sheet former is a multi-functional laboratory instrument designed for converting pulp into standard test handsheets. Manufactured in accordance with ISO 5269/2, GB/T 24324-2009, QB/T 3703-1999, TAPPI T-205, and related standards, it integrates sheet forming, vacuum filtration, pressing, and drying into a single unit—completing the full process from fiber to finished specimen. The device features both pneumatic and manual mixing modes, a self-designed water-circulating vacuum pump for low-noise, maintenance-free operation, and an integrated heating plate with thermally conductive silicone grease for uniform heat distribution. The entire machine is built from 304 stainless steel with all seals made from silicone, while a wet-dry separation design ensures electrical safety. It is broadly applicable to pulp and paper research, education, and specialty fiber wet-laid forming.
Key Features
Multi-standard Compliance: Conforms to ISO 5269/2, GB/T 24324-2009, QB/T 3703-1999, TAPPI T-205, ensuring results are widely accepted across laboratories.
Integrated Design: Combines sheet forming, vacuum filtration, pressing, and drying in one machine, significantly improving workflow efficiency.
Dual Mixing Modes: Standard pneumatic and manual mixing. The patented pneumatic mixing design ensures excellent fiber dispersion, eliminating uneven sheets and pinholes.
Water-Circulating Vacuum System: Self-designed water-circulating pump runs quietly with high suction, requires no oil changes, and avoids the maintenance issues of traditional oil-based vacuum pumps.
Precision Temperature Drying: Integrated heating plate with silicone grease heat transfer; drying temperature adjustable up to 140°C with digital control for even heating and consistent sheet quality.
304 Stainless Steel Build: All major components and wet-end parts are 304 stainless steel, corrosion-resistant and easy to clean. Wet-dry separation design prevents water damage to electrical parts.
Silicone Seals: All gaskets are made from durable silicone, resistant to aging with minimal elastic change, eliminating leakage caused by traditional rubber gasket degradation.
White Water Recirculation: Built-in recirculation system reuses water, reducing consumption and fiber loss.
Safe and Convenient Operation: All electrical controls are top-mounted, keeping them away from water contact while providing easy access.
Broad Applicability: Suitable for wet-laid forming of plant fibers, glass fibers, carbon fibers, nanomaterials, and more.

FAQ
1. Uneven sheet, thick and thin spots
Poorly dispersed pulp, strong water impact, or unlevel screen. Disintegrate pulp thoroughly, add water slowly, and level the forming wire.
2. Holes, tears, or missing edges in sheet
Fiber clumps or debris in stock, overly rapid vacuum, rough sheet removal. Filter impurities, slow the dewatering process, and handle wet sheets gently.
3. Water leaking from forming cylinder
Aged gasket, misaligned cylinder, or loose clamps. Replace silicone gasket, align and secure cylinder clamps.
4. Weak vacuum, slow dewatering
Clogged pump filter, air leaks in lines, or full water collection tank. Clean filter, check line seals, and drain tank promptly.
5. Excessive bubbles, irregular sheet texture
Air entrapment from rapid water filling. Pour water slowly and steadily to minimize surface turbulence.
6. Screen clogging, fiber buildup
Insufficient cleaning after use, dried fiber residues. Thoroughly rinse screen and cylinder after each experiment.
7. Stiff or noisy column movement
Dust on guides, lack of lubrication, loose fasteners. Clean guides, tighten fittings, and lubricate lightly on schedule.

The handsheet former is a core piece of equipment in pulp and paper laboratories for converting pulp into standard paper samples. Its working principle involves injecting a pulp suspension of specified consistency into a forming cylinder, where rapid dewatering is carried out under vacuum filtration on a wire support. The fibers are uniformly deposited on the wire surface to form a wet sheet, which is then pressed and heat-dried to obtain a standard paper sample. The integrated handsheet former combines the entire process of sheet forming, vacuum filtration, pressing, and drying, avoiding sheet damage and operational complexity caused by transferring samples between traditional separate units. The prepared φ200 mm circular paper samples can be directly used for physical property tests such as grammage, thickness, tensile strength, burst strength, tear resistance, and air permeability. Designed in accordance with standard specifications such as ISO 5269/2, TAPPI T-205, and QB/T 3703, this equipment ensures data comparability across different laboratories and is an essential instrument for papermaking process development, raw material evaluation, and quality control.
