Product Introduction
The flute depth tester operates on the contact depth measurement principle. Equipped with a V-shaped anvil and a slim measuring head, the head can easily insert into the bottom of the flute valley. When the head and V-anvil simultaneously contact the material's upper and lower surfaces, the precision dial indicator displays the height difference, which is the flute depth. Ultra-low measuring pressure (≤2 N) prevents flute tips from being compressed, truly reflecting the formed flute height. The instrument also retains a flat head function for standard thickness measurement. Its compact mechanical design without electronic components ensures long-term stability in both production floors and laboratories.

Key Features
Specialized V-Anvil and Narrow Head Measuring head 16±5 mm long and 5 mm wide, paired with a 60° V-anvil, can precisely reach flute valley bottoms for direct flute depth measurement.
0.001mm High-Precision Reading Measurement precision reaches 0.001 mm, accurately capturing minor flute height differences to meet high-standard inspection requirements.
Ultra-Low Measuring Pressure to Protect Structure Measuring pressure ≤2 N, far lower than standard thickness testing pressure, ensures the flute shape is not crushed or altered during measurement.
Wide-Range Universal Measurement Range of 0-18 mm enables both flute depth measurement and flat-head thickness measurement of paper and board.
High Parallelism for Accuracy Parallelism between measuring surfaces <0.035 mm ensures tight contact between the head and anvil, reducing measurement error.
Strict Multi-Standard Compliance Complies with ISO 534, GB/T 451.3, GB/T 1983, and QB/T 4031-2010, suitable for testing flame-retardant air filter paper and other specialty materials.
Purely Mechanical, Maintenance-Free Design No electronic components, requires no power supply, offers excellent long-term stability with no drift risk and minimal maintenance cost.
Compact, Lightweight, and Easy to Operate Dimensions 80×120×120 mm; small, portable, intuitive to operate, and instantly usable with minimal training.

FAQ
1. What is the main difference between the Flute Depth Tester and a standard paper thickness gauge?
A standard thickness gauge uses flat anvils and a large contact area, which cannot reach the bottom of flute valleys, and its high measuring pressure (100 kPa or more) would crush the flute structure. This tester features a V-anvil and narrow head, capable of contacting the valley bottom with extremely low pressure (≤2 N) to precisely measure flute depth without damaging the flute shape.
2. Does the measurement require delaminating or destroying the corrugated board?
No. The measuring head reaches the valley bottom from the surface of the corrugated paper non-destructively, preserving specimen integrity.
3. What types of fluted materials can be measured?
It is suitable for flute height measurement of various corrugating papers, filter paper flutes, flame-retardant air filter papers, and packaging corrugating medium, as long as the flute dimensions fall within the head's travel range.
4. Does the 0.001 mm measurement precision refer to resolution or indication error?
0.001 mm represents the instrument's measurement precision (reading capability of the high-resolution dial indicator), enabling observation of minute flute height differences. The instrument's indication accuracy is calibrated against standard gauge blocks before shipment.
5. How to calibrate and maintain the instrument?
Routine accuracy verification can be performed using standard gauge blocks in flat-head mode. For cleaning, gently wipe the measuring head and V-anvil surfaces with a soft cloth to prevent dust buildup. The purely mechanical structure requires no periodic electronic component replacement.

6. Can it measure the thickness of ordinary paper?
Yes. By removing the V-anvil or switching to the flat measuring head, it can function as a high-precision thickness gauge for paper and board within the 0-18 mm range, complying with ISO 534 and GB/T 451.3.

Flute depth (flute height) is a critical geometric parameter of corrugated structures in corrugated board and filtration materials, directly influencing the edge crush strength, cushioning performance, and air permeability characteristics. In the packaging industry, flute height determines board caliper and compressive strength. In filtration applications, flute height affects dust-holding capacity and air permeability. Precise flute depth measurement is essential for controlling corrugation quality, optimizing board strength, and evaluating filtration performance. The flute depth tester employs a dedicated V-anvil and narrow measuring head to directly contact the valley bottom, effectively eliminating measurement errors caused by the inability of conventional flat anvils to reach the bottom. The instrument's extremely low measuring pressure ensures the flute structure remains unchanged during testing, faithfully representing the formed dimensions as they come off the production line. This instrument is widely used on corrugated board production lines, in filter paper manufacturing plants, and at quality inspection agencies, serving as an important basic device for flute forming quality evaluation and process control.
